Dr. Kimberley Molina, after graduating from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Mathematics, obtained her Doctor of Medicine degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic, Clinical and Forensic Pathology. She currently serves as the Deputy Chief Medical Examiner for Bexar County, a position she has held since 2007. She is also an Associate Editor of the American Journal of Forensic Medicine and Pathology and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Pathology at the UTHSCSA Medical School. She has written numerous articles and book chapters regarding the field of forensic pathology as well as the first edition of Handbook of FORENSIC TOXICOLOGY for MEDICAL EXAMINERS. Dr. Veronica Hargrove obtained her PhD in Pharmacology from The University of Texas Health Science Center Graduate School in San Antonio. This is an outstanding book that is so much more than just a chronicle of the Battle of Mogadishu. Keni Thomas brings the reader into the battle and explains better than anyone I have ever read, how people can function with bullets flying around them. His contention that during the heat of battle, a soldier makes the conscious decision that "I may die here today, but my men - the man on my left and the man on my right - won't" helps the reader to understand how people in battle can continue to function when faced with their own mortality. The reader comes to meet others who were involved in the battle, how the battle began and how it ended. Keni also spends a large part of the book explaining the virtues of character and leadership. Not in terms of generals or leaders in government, but in terms of the soldiers, the boots on the ground, from the lowly private who only leads himself, to the lieutenants who worked tirelessly to make sure their men made it back. He believes that everyone is extraordinary and is capable of doing great things; the problem lies in their believing in themselves. His philosophy is summed up in his words: "Lead, follow, or get out of the way". Get It On! is an inspiring story of battle, friendship, and what is means to "lead the way".

You know the books you get so engrossed in that you don't want them to end? This was one of them for me. When I wondered why afterwards, considering I am not the type who goes out of her way to read stories of war, I realized it was because of the writing style. Keni Thomas is not writing a book: he's telling a story. You read this book, and he might as well be there talking to you about his time serving in the Army. This is the hallmark of a great story-teller. There are moments here when the author bares his soul. His voice gives truth to the reality of war and you know that every word is genuine. I once read a quote that said you should choose your authors as you choose your friends; Keni is someone you'll want as a friend. Speaking of quotes, he magically ties in quotes from a variety of sources into the themes of his tale. He also draws parallels with his Christian faith, which is done so honestly that believers and non-believers alike with open hearts will see something beautiful there. It is impossible to read this book and not take something inspirational out of it. Keni Thomas defines "leader" with more sincerity than many philosophers have. He is one of the few real authorities on the subject. Read this book and you'll see what I mean.

As an artist, art therapist, and daughter of a mother with Alzheimers, I was thrilled, encouraged and comforted by this book. Walrath's format and excerpts of caring for her mother are creative and sensitively wrought. The illustrations are lively, humorous and provocative. The total work is framed as a journey of moments shared and transformed - both past and present. Her comments and direct responses are heartfelt and helpful. She has mastered the art of replies as caregiver that are direct, brief, honest - yet therapeutic. Not once did I have the sense that she was unaware of the person beneath the layers of the disease. The journey is difficult, yet brought back repeatedly as moments in time possible to simplify and reassure based on sensitivity, respect. Like the illustrations, these moments are open ended yet grounded. While informative, Aliceheimer's does not read like an instruction manual. It reads more like a love story, and a second chance at making a stronger connection. It reminds me that authenticity of the moment can be possible in this challenging journey. Many times I was surprised how Walrath could hit on the core of an incident, based on shared memories of her mother as well as present situation.

Aliceheimer's is Dana Walrath's loving gift to her mother who, having Alzheimers disease, could "read" the pictures but not words. The book offered me a new view of Alzheimer's--that it can be seen as another way of being, similar to belonging to another culture. Dana Walrath is both a clear writer and accomplished artist, and both inform the book.Dana's portrait of her mother is sympathetic without being maudlin, and it offers important insights. For example, that most Alzheimers sufferers have their social faculties intact. If you become tense around them, they will become tense too. Although the book is not a "how to" work at all, as a former caregiver, I wish this book had been available years ago when I cared for my grandmother. Given these insights, I would have done it better.

this is a lovely book to help contemplate living in partnership with someone with dementia. It is very positive in offering a paradigm for living with dementia and understanding how to be truly "with" the loved one who has dementia. I feel this book will be very helpful in educating and changing attitudes about dementia. I have several loved ones with dementia and have worked as volunteer with dementia patients.

This book is a funny look at life that isn't too funny when living it. But she did a great job showing the side of Alzheimers and getting through it with grace and as much dignity as one can. ( I thought she knew my Dad pretty well even though she was writing about her Mother.)

Just finished this book today. A stunningly beautiful read in both word and image. Everyone caring for someone with Alzheimer's will find wisdom and comfort in these pages. So glad my husband her Dana Walrath on VPR and told me about this.

The art work didn't help me, though I am sure creating it helped Walrath. Ia moire her courage and humor, but I like other graphic medical lit. books (EPILEPSY; MY DEGENERATION) much better.

Thorough treatment on the subject of prayer. I don't like listening to Carson, but he is extremely smart and this book is well written. I would basically have to write a cliff notes version of the book to explain it all, so instead I would tell you to go read the first chapter for free on a kindle, and let what you read there determine if this is what you are looking for. Should you buy it, you will not be disappointed.

Dr. Carson takes a humble look at various prayers of Paul to the end of helping us shape our own prayer life. This is not cheerleading; rather, it is thought-provoking. I'll probably need to read it several times in order to let it all soak in. (This is in contrast with most books on prayer, in which I get most of what it says by about the half-way point.) This is by far the best book on prayer that I've read.

For the Christian who seeks deeper and practical insight into praying and connecting with God more powerfully by getting a better understanding of His will with a view to praying and seeking Him in alignment with it...if that Christian is you, then look no further than this book. It is a revelation into the will of God from Paul's prayers. Sound doctrine, effective application. I applaud this book, it will stand the tests of time as a classic.

Very helpful. After each chapter, I have found myself praying in terms of the chapter's teachings. It is practical as well as motivational. It has enough detail to be transformative in daily ways. It has changed the way I pray, to be more biblical in what is prayed for.

The book is an excellent examination of the prayers of Paul. It provides clear exposition, deep insights, and practical guidance in understanding and emulating those prayers. If you desire to learn how to “pray the Bible” to enrich your spiritual life and grow in grace, this book provides an outstanding and thorough introduction on how to accomplish that end. Highly recommended.

D. A. Carson continues to move up the list for me as a personal favorite for books. This book focuses in on the prayers of Paul that are all through his epistles. It is a helpful book to inspire you toward a deeper prayer life but having the Bible as a guide for you to follow with your praying.

Carson does us an enormous favor by walking us through the prayers of the great Apostle Paul. Keen insight into the approach to prayer by Paul helps us to strengthen our own prayer life. Informative and inspiring this book is to be studied not just read and its insights applied.

I read this with a friend, then we would meet to discuss 1-2 chapters at a time, having noted significant things. The author works his way through many of Paul's prayers - from Scripture. Great to read and discuss, and hopefully grow in your dedication to pray. Always an area for potential growth, right?

This book was a life-changer for me. A few years ago, after being out of work for an uncomfortable length of time, I used the guidance in this book to update my LinkedIn profile. Within a few weeks of my complete profile overhaul, I was contacted on LinkedIn by a Director from a company completely outside of my industry. I applied for the position, which was a PERFECT fit for my skills and work style, and yada, yada, yada... I got the job!P.S. - I also used Brenda's book, "How to Write a WINNING Resume" to spice up my CV. I highly recommend both books.

There were some helpful points about mistakes people make, especially about writing a better header, but overall there wasn't anything earth shattering. A lot of the same points I've seen in articles online. It was nice to have it all together, but truthfully I wouldn't buy this book or recommend someone to buy it. I think I got to read it for free as part of my Kindle Unlimited plan. When I finally did wind up redoing my Linked In profile, I hired a professional service to do it. For the $50 I spent on the service, worth every penny. Way better than some of the money I spent on these Kindle Linked In books. There just wasn't enough "how to" to make it worth the time or money.

In addition, my profile views have increased by 250% since I updated my profile (according to LinkedIn).I can definitely say that this book will be of value to you if you're looking for a job, or just wanting to enhance your visibility. Especially if you thought that copying your resume into your LinkedIn profile was the way to go, like I did.

I only budgeted a brief time to reading the book so far, but managed to transform my LinkedIn profile. I'm usually a skeptic about these kinds of books and hope other social media guides will copy the style here:1) The book gets you exactly where you need to go as far as LinkedIn as a website, so you don't waste time looking for buttons if you're not spending your life at LinkedIn.2) But then the advice comes in short, sharp but highly intelligent pieces, relevant to exactly where you are. She really knows what she's talking about, and puts the right piece of advice on the right page.Not many authors smart enough to be subtle also do the work to be organized enough to match each edit button on a website. Where another book you might read a chapter of general advice and then stumble around trying to figure out what it means for you, here I'd read a paragraph and make a useful change, then repeat, all very quickly.
