It is a fast read when you need to relax, but it could have been longer. Generally I love all the Angel Paws stories that were published this far.

I love German Shepherd dogs, they truly are very instinctual, and their love and devotion for their family is unparalleled. It was great to read a short fictional story about "Night", and his devotion to his family! The author hit all the perfect tones in describing the GS traits. Great short read! Wish there were more short stories about the GS breed and the families they loving protect and serve!

This book is a nice, short read for all ages. I would recommend being careful reading this to young children, though: I don't want to spoil it, but it gets slightly violent towards the end.Jordan Taylor writes amazing short stories, perfect for a bedtime story. She has a gift for making these canine reads heartwarming and lovable. Please keep writing them!Overall, this book deserves 5 stars, because it was perfect for me. Miss Taylor did an exceptional job of portraying the German Shepherd Dog breed. I loved it! I would recommend this book for any dog lover, especially if you're a Shepherd enthusiast like me! :)

Thanksgiving Night is a short, but great book. I have a German Sheppard, so I love any stories that have them in it.The writer made it seem as if I was right there with the family. It seemed as if they were real. It could have been an article I read in a magazine that was a true story it felt so real to me.Even if you don't like to read stories about dogs, I would highly recommend reading this book. I got a good feeling after reading it.This is the first story I've read by this author, Jordan Taylor. I will be looking for more by this author.

I enjoyed this story very much. The author captures the character of the German Shepherd hero very well. She portrays what it's like to live with a young, strong-willed working dog who is sweet and playful with his family and relentlessly capable of defending them should the need arise.Oh, I also liked the heroine of the story, the soldier's wife struggling to raise her two young sons alone while her husband is off serving his country. It is a fluidly written portrayal of a military family's life.I will be reading more of this author's stories.

Took less than 30 min to read. Ok but dont sell it as a book for heavens sake. (Book 1????? Really?) It is disingenuous. Otherwise, GSDs are the greatest, I agree w that.

I loved this story! Night, a huge black German Shepard was dropped out of the military K-9 program He was adopted by a loving family,he became a great protector, loving family dog, and a hero! This dog made me smile throughout the whole story, I love dog stories!

Well such is not the case for Night the german shepherd. He flunked out of doggy school. Never fear though, there is a human daddy that loves him just the same and wants to give him a home. Night has barely been living with the family when daddy has to go into military duty. The family is so sad because this means a long time without dad and they will miss. Thanksgiving is upon the family so they go visit relatives for the holiday and come home later that night. The street lights are out and there is a strange van across the street. When they get in the house mom realizes there is a burglar inside. Oh no... Night is a K9 school drop out... what does he do???Grab this short little Angel Paws book to find out.

I was captured by the beauty of its language from the start. Have a look at just a few lines from one of the first paragraphs, describing the Etna and the surroundings of Taormina, where David Herbert Lawrence and his wife Frieda von Richthofen (named Queen-Bee, or Q-B, throughout the book) lived at the time: "Comes over one an absolute necessity to move. And what is more, to move in some particular direction. A double necessity then: to get on the move, and to know whither. Why can't one sit still? Here in Sicily it is so pleasant: the sunny Ionian sea, the changing jewel of Calabria, like a fire-opal moved in the light; Italy and the panorama of Christmas clouds, night with the dog-star laying a long, luminous gleam across the sea, as if baying at us, Orion marching above; how the dog-star Sirius looks at one, looks at one! he is the hound of heaven, green, glamorous and fierce!--and then oh regal evening star, hung westward flaring over the jagged dark precipices of tall Sicily: then Etna, that wicked witch, resting her thick white snow under heaven, and slowly, slowly rolling her orange-coloured smoke. They called her the Pillar of Heaven, the Greeks. It seems wrong at first, for she trails up in a long, magical, flexible line from the sea's edge to her blunt cone, and does not seem tall. She seems rather low, under heaven. But as one knows her better, oh awe and wizardy! Remote under heaven, aloof, so near, yet never with us. The painters try to paint her, and the photographers to photograph her, in vain."Lawrence and his wife travel to and from Sardinia by train and ship, and while on the island, they use the motor bus, still a novelty at that time. The people, the landscape, the villages and towns as well as the interior of the inns and hotels they stay at are described in a way that definitely makes you glad to live almost a century later, with all the comfort we have gotten used to. Most of the humble places where they stay are bitterly cold, no cleaner than a cow shed, offer too little food to make up for the lack of other comforts, and so the Lawrences never stay very long in one place.The author is fascinated by local costume and the rather archaic, simple way of life and character he finds in the village people. It helps that both he and Frieda are fluent in Italian, and he reports many a conversation with inn-keepers, bus drivers and fellow passengers.I enjoyed this read, and also enjoyed reading up about the couple on wikipedia. Frieda von Richthofen was German, six years older than David Herbert Lawrence, who became her lover while she was still married to an English professor and he was his student. They eloped to Germany (leaving her three children behind) and married after her divorce came through. They stayed together for the rest of Lawrence's life, which ended early: he died in 1930, aged 44, from tuberculosis. Frieda married again and lived until 1956.Times have changed, and I guess most Sardinians wear their traditional costume only for touristy events and maybe a national holiday or patron saint feast, but I'd like to know how much of what the author describes of Nuoro, Cagliari, Mandas, Sorgono and Terranova still is recognizable today.

After reading this well written, quotable, but uneventful travelogue by D.H. Lawrence, I find myself wondering why British people travel. Here is Lawrence, 60 years before Paul Theroux (who I thought held the tittle of "Crankiest Travel Writer"), setting out on a whirlwind tour of Sardinia, and complaining about it every step of the way.With no explanation or preamble, D.H. Lawrence and his wife (The "Queen Bee", who he criticizes relentlessly)set off for this remote island IN WINTER apparently so he can bitch about the weather along with the poor food and service in the hotels they can afford to stay in. This is post WWI/pre-Mussolini Italy and the economy is not too hot. The Lawrences spend no more than 1 night in any city, so they never get to know any town. (One night they arrive in a rural town to find that all the men are dressed as women. It is cold, so they scurry back to their hotel, make tea, and look out from their window a while before eating a bad meal. This Okitoks edition is a disgrace: mircrofiche-size print and poorly designed format. And once again, Amazon fails to protect its customers from cheap print-on-demand hucksters.

This is a travelogue of a tour Lawrence and his wife the Queen Bee took after World War One. They travel from Sicily to Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia, then other cities in Sardinia. He captures the atmosphere of each place, the pride of the people, their lifestyle. It's so interesting to read about a place as it was at the time Lawrence was writing. It was a poor area, Third World, lacking infrastructure and the amenities that exist now. What makes this book so interesting is Lawrence's facility with language and observation. He puts the reader right into the scenes he creates. Recommended especially for people who have been in that area.

This book is a travelogue of Sardinia. I found the descriptions of the people, their dress and their behavior to be very very good. The author puts you where he is and you enjoy the trip as much as he does and doesn't. Much of the dialogue is internal musing which I seem to do too. This is a man's book. He travels with his wife but everything is from his point of view. She never has a direct dialogue. He calls her "q-b" as in Queen Bee. He reports her likes and dislikes but in a very objective sort of way. This style may annoy female persons. However it is a glimpse into the male psyche.

Well written, but not as much about Sardinia as the title would suggest and most of the observations were not particularly flattering.That being said the descriptions were exceptionally descriptive, occasionally amusing and made me glad I did not have to travel underthe circumstances of that era.

I bought this for Histology and it is incredibly helpful with beautiful drawings, pictures, and diagrams. All of which are well labeled and to my teacher's knowledge, accurate. Even if you are just taking an anatomy class I highly recommend this to aid in your understanding and labeling of any tissues you may study. I plan on keeping mine for future reference in undergrad and med school.

Out of the 25 books that were required for MS-1, this is the only book I actually used. The pictures are great and the explanations are priceless (especially the Blue Boxes and Summary). I have the paper binding and it's great to review outside of class, especially since the captions are right next to the pic.Some students have the ebook version, which is a lot better when you're using it in lab; one word of caution though-- a lot of the captions are on another page so you have to go looking to find it

This was listed as a required text for my human anatomy class. I honestly think I could do the class without it, however, it would be a lot harder. Histology can be frustrating and confusing, this makes it less confusing and frustrating but helping you along.

This is the best Atlas of Histology out there. The difference between a regular atlas and this one is the fact that these are clarified, although realistic, drawings of histologic preparations. No other atlas will make it so clear to see the structures indicated in anyother textbook.Keep in mind, though, that this is just an atlas, and you will need a textbook for in depth explanations. I would recommend this atlas along with Genesser or Bloom and Fawcett.

Rented this for class. Professor preferred for us to have this book above all other books for use with the labs. Book provides great visuals and explanations.

The first edition of this book, originally called simply "Chapter 29," was written in 1976. Since then there have been four additional editions and the book has been printed in five languages and read by thousands around the world. I felt that a big part of what they were missing was the ability to be humble. To trust that God's way is the way to follow, not their own. People die young. Children die, too. It's part of God's plan for them, their families. God doesn't only answer with miracles. And deciding that he does is setting a dangerous precedent to those searching for comfort and answers in the wake of tragedy. The real Christian comes through tragedy more spiritual, not gaining faith because of miracles performed on command. I wish Jean the best and I hope over the years she has come to accept God's answers as supreme Truth, not her own wants and her need to be recognized as a tool. God loves her regardless of who she impresses. Look for miracles in quiet, somber times not just loud, earth shattering ones. They are more frequent and many times, so beautiful. In Jesus's name, God's will be done....not mine.

Inspiring, informative!This a truly an inspiring book for all who are Christians and all who strive to become Christians. Author Jean Coleman is a truly devout Christian and an important evangelist. She and her husband, Jack, have ministered the Word of God and won converts to Jesus for many years, not just in suburban America, but also in the backwaters of India and other countries, where they travel to preach regularly. This book provides Jean's story of how she, not a Christian at the time, was spoken to my God, brought into His fold, told that she would be His instrument in delivering the Word. Some say that the great evangelist, Billy Graham, had a similar communion with God and was called to international ministry.Since Jean was called, she has brought the Word to others and has even served as God's messenger when He has performed miracles. For example, she relates the story of a woman who announced to the congregation at a church that she had gone blind and that her doctor had told her that no more could be done. Following the sermon, Jean approached the woman, placed her thumbs on the woman's eyelids, and asked God to heal her. When she opened her eyes, she could once again see clearly - a true miracle. Don't believe in miracles? Well, read this book. Jean convincingly tell many stories of people God has helped, using her as His instrument. She also tells stories of conversions to Christ, in a very clear, informative way.One of the best things about this book is that it teaches Christianity. Jean gives a clear, detailed description of just how an ordinary person can come to believe in and accept Jesus as their savior and thereby gain entry to Heaven. Indeed, if you are a Christian or would consider being saved and becoming a Christian, you must read this book. You will be both inspired and informed, and perhaps Jean Coleman will have won yet another convert for Christ.

I just finished rereading Chapter 29 (Revisited), after having read the first edition many years ago. (I found this so engrossing that I read it from Kindle cover to cover in one sitting). I grew up in the same neighborhood as the Coleman's, so I remember much of what transpired, but through the lens of a much younger person. At that time, the transformation of Mr. and Mrs. Coleman seemed more of an oddity; the details and meaning of which were unknown and not understood. As I grew up and began to grow in my own sprituality I began to appreciate the personal relationship that each of us has with Jesus. It is rare one gets to open the door to their youth and relive events around them. Chapter 29 Revisited was a fascinating and inspiring retrospective witness of the people and times in my life and teaches the lesson the Jesus surrounds us, and we need only to open our hearts and souls to Christ to welcome him into our lives. Jean Coleman tells us in very personal detail how she found Jesus, and Jesus was there for her.

This was a fascinating book that was hard to put down. It’s written in a conversational style and the chapters are very short. In this book, Jean Coleman relays the story of her transformation from a Sunday church attendee to a woman who hears the voice of God and desires to know Him more, to seek Him and to be obedient to all she learns. Through this process, her life is transformed (in addition to her husband’s, children’s, and neighbor’s lives….and many others she encounters).I loved the honest account of Jean seeking a deeper understanding of walking in faith and then taking those first steps in faith. This included the first steps to being bold enough to talk about God to her neighbor, starting a Bible Study (even when not feeling fully adequate to do so), and praying for her husband and children to grow in their faith. She also describes the journey of how she came to understand and experience (the sometimes controversial) speaking in tongues, interpreting tongues, healings, words of knowledge, miracles and more. I appreciated her genuine account of these experiences.Jean is an inspiration! She has a passion for God, a curiosity to know Him more, and she is obedient to do the things that are revealed to her. Each time Jean takes a step of faith, she is encouraged more by the things that God reveals to her. This fuels a deeper relationship with Christ who then is able to reveal even more things to her. Since this book covers only the first three years of her faith journey (which happened many years ago), I can’t wait for Jean Coleman’s second book on how God has continued to use her. She now has a global ministry and has taken many more steps of faith over the years. Surely, there are many more stories to be told!I was fortunate enough to receive a free electronic copy of this book that Jean had offered on the Christian Readers Discussion Group on the Goodreads.com website. I am so thankful to her for writing it and for the opportunity to enjoy reading it!

Few books match what is depicted in "the death of inflation" The importance of this work is even more obvious as we are now several years after the book was originally published. The historical perspective presented is quite interesting, and with the advent of the internet, labor is the true source of the "zero inflation" idea. Price competition is inherently deflationary. This long term study "of studies" will show the average reader that capital, like any other commodity, is just another "fixed asset" in the universe. There is neither more or less of it in the universe, which means that inflation, as we have come to know it, is nothing more than an illusion in the short term, and a fallacy in the long term.

The author has successfully discussed the various theoretical works done on "inflation". It had been enlightening to know that many of the great, simple theories in economics simply did not say anything useful. The balanced approach in discussing each issue had been a key feature throughout the book. I would recommend that final year economic students and MBA students should read this excellently written book.
