The author provides excellent advice for leveraging both traditional and digital media (Publicity 3.0 was my favorite section) including guidance through the landscape of owned, earned and leased media. It's written is an accessible format for quick perusal and includes many memorable anecdotes to bring home the message. I bought a copy for my head of communications. Five Stars!

You can tell that David really understands publicity. I appreciate the time and effort he took to put it all together in 66 easy to understand rules. I highly recommend this book.

For most executives like me, PR is a bit of a "black box." You know you need it, you know it could make an incredible difference in your business, but the mechanics of it are a bit of a mystery. What is worse, you don't really know how to buy or evaluate it, whether your PR dollars are effective, or how to direct it to help you better achieve your strategic goals.This is an extremely well-written tutorial on modern PR in the age of social media. Politis' first rule is what he calls the "Betty factor", that is, whether his non-tech, non-PR mother-in-law Betty could understand what is being written. Politis' book certainly passes that basic comprehension test, despite containing some very sophisticated ideas, but it is also a compelling page-turner that I read over a single weekend. It begins with a top-down evaluation of your goals, and the documents you need to prepare to support your PR efforts. It is packed with good ideas, concrete examples, and war stories, and things to consider when designing a PR plan for any business.I feel much better prepared as a result of reading this book. As a small business owner and CEO, I am immediately passing this on to my new CMO for discussion, planning, and implementation. Well done!My ONLY critique (and it is a small one) is that he didn't explain the "why" behind Rule #30, "No attachments (without prior permission). A little Googling helped me understand why that is such a big problem for reporters. Never having been a journalist, I certainly would have missed that point. Thanks, David!

Check any of my reviews and you will see I love Zombie stories, even the unusual ones..this one just didn't do anything for me. Truthfully, I didn't think it was that great...yeah it got to see parts of it from the Zombie's view point but so what? it wasn't earth shattering or great...it certainly wasn't one I would tell people to go out and read or rave about..sorry but 5 star it's not. I was being nice giving it more than one star but I gotta be truthful.

I've read hundreds of zombie stories: novels, short stories, and flash fiction...but, never have I read anything like The Zombie Show. The POV of the zombie Jose was brilliantly tragic and horrifically entertaining, and provided an interesting angle to the story. I haven't read a more compelling character since Truman in Paffenroth's Dying to Live series.The setting is a post-apocalypse world where zombies still exist, but the undead threat has nearly been eliminated. An undercover rogue agent, Cole, is working with several cartels to take out one man, Mazatlan. The villain is extraordinarily intimidating and deadly, and he provides an illegal road show consisting of zombies having sex with human females.While the story works as a fabulous stand-alone, I sincerely hope Rice would consider turning The Zombie Show into a series.Rice also includes the previously released story, Fleshbags - the grossest piece of fiction I have ever read - with The Zombie Show. The second novella is divided up into hours, with alternating POVs, and follows the events of an outbreak in one town. There is also supposed to be a sequel in the works.The two stories are nothing alike, with the exception that they are both terrific zombie stories. Most of the horror authors that I read are very creative, constantly expanding the zombie genre far beyond the stereotypes featured in zombie films, but Rice stands out with his talent for blending elements of bizarro fiction with undead themes, thus giving each individual story its own unique plot.

The Zombie Show is Gerald Dean Rice's newest novella swipe at the zombie genre, and as was the case with Fleshbags, he has crafted a zombie that is a diversion from the traditional.In this tale, we are introduced to Cole Green, an undercover agent trying to find a Mexican Cartel baddy by the name of Mazatlan. The zombie apocalypse is over and humanity won, though there are still zombies out there. Naturally, criminal minds think of criminal ways of using them when the law is to shoot the undead on sight. And these zombies are, as I mentioned, a bit different. Not only do they regain a small amount of cognitive ability when they devour flesh, they also have another basic urge that goes along with their insatiable hunger. The urge for sex remains, at least in the male undead, and this serves the purpose of Mazatlan and other criminals who like to put on illegal sex shows south of the border for bored, jaded American college kids. While many of the shows put on end up being some guy in zombie makeup, Mazatlan, with a science background, has managed to concoct a drug that creates new zombies, though these hybrids are a bit different than the regular undead.This story has a lot of elements to it. Uncover action, zombie horror, surprising twists and turns, plus a zombie name Jose that shares the spotlight with Mazatlan and Cole as a main character who was perhaps the most interesting character of them all. The author likes to give his zombies a bit of humanity despite their monstrous nature, and in both this tale and Fleshbags before it, and he delves just deep enough into their minds to give his audience an appreciation of what they're going through and perhaps forces us to have some sympathy for them, even as they're tearing into their latest victim. This story also had a Dusk Till Dawn flavor to it, with zombies replacing vampires in the club setting where the story takes place. Certainly, the place turns into carnage central before the story is resolved.The author has a flare for taking traditional horror monsters and turning them into something new and intriguing, while also crafting some well done traditional scary tales as well. I've enjoyed everything I've seen so far from Gerald Dean Rice, and The Zombie Show is no exception.

Gerald Dean Rice's previous zombie works "30 Minute Plan" and "Fleshbags" offer a unique spin on the zombie genre. "The Zombie Show" shows the after effects of a zombie apocalypse and how we as humans adapt.Cole is the protagonist with a tragic history and Mazatlan is ruthless vile war monger thinking of only himself. Two characters on the opposite ends of the spectrum that provide enough entertainment, but the zombies are the star of this show.The zombies in this tale are different than most. They retain some memories and the ability to have sex. Quiet an upheaval of the traditional zombies and one aspect of the story I liked. Sure it over the top and at times absurd but in the end it's a fun time.

I grew up during the 70's and 80's, so I remember some of the stuff talked about but I never really had a clear picture. The beginning of the book really solidified some history for me.A significant portion of the book that came after this dealt with the Holocaust. This has always been a hard topic for me to give attention to, since I imagine my grandfather's skin may have turned into someone's lampshade, etc. I realize that others may not be aware of the horrors, and that this topic did need mentioning in length for them. However, had I known how much content would have been devoted to this, I would have just "passed" on the book and gave a donation. I then would have caught the current and future happenings thru John Hagee's sermons instead of this book.Current and future happenings are always something that I appreciate hearing John Hagee illuminate on.

A great book for anyone that wants to know the truth to where we are on God’s calandar

Time to start thinking critically about where we come from and where we are going (best with a good cup of coffee) . I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in our culture or politics - looking backwards and forwards. Hagee does a remarkable job of calling out the pertinent facts of the past in order to help us see where we are now and where we are heading. You won't be disappointed with this read.

CHILLING, SAD, & RIVETING. THE STORYTELLER HAS A GOOD VOICE, (BUT HE ALMOST SOUNDS ROBOTIC). I STAND WITH ISRAEL.

I waited for over a year for this book to be released as I have always enjoy Pastor Hagee's books. This one is dry and boring. I appreciate all the study that went into it, but it is nothing new that I have not read about for the last several years. Sorry Pastor Hagee - didn't like this and didn't even finish it

The book is excellent, there is a lot of history in the book as well, if you look for the sermons, (same title as the book) like on ytube or so, they are also a must watch! and they go with the book.Absolutely a must have, I may come back to add to my review, I'm not completely done reading yet :o)

Though this book would jump periodically from one event in his life to some other event seemingly without a smooth transition, it certainly made me feel his angst and struggles trying to make sense of himself in his world in Harlem and in the world outside Harlem. I think this book would be good for youngsters who feel isolated and are struggling to figure out who they are, where they're going and what it might take to get there.

School required reading for my 8th grader. She liked the book and said she was glad this was a part of the summer reading this year. It kept her interest.

I am a former elementary teacher and school librarian who has been reading Walter Dean Myers books for years. In his usual conversational manner Walter Dean Myers writes about his journey to become one of the best, most respected, and award-winning children's book writers. He explains his struggles growing up in Harlem, NY, and how certain people in his life had positive effects to motivate him to become a writer. However, along the way he never thought he could earn a living from writing or become a famous writer for children, mainly boys. Probably the biggest motivation in Walter's life was READING an assortment of FICTION and NONFICTION books, so that he knew there could be a life for him beyond the difficult life he was experiencing. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and his in-depth evaluations about where he had come from and what he needed to do to succeed. This INSPIRATIONAL book should be published in hardcover and be in every elementary, middle-school, and high school library for librarians to give to kids who are struggling through hardships within their family and at school. Kids will learn to never give up, because EVERY ONE of THEM can succeed in life. After all Walter Dean Myer did not finish high school. But he did what one teacher advised him to do, and that was to "NEVER STOP WRITING." As Walter said on page 200 of BAD BOY, "My reading ability led me to books, which led me to ideas, which led me to more books and more ideas. The slow dance through the ideas led me to writing." However, Walter's becoming a writer could also lead SAM, TANISHA, JUSTIN, CHELSEA, EUGENE, LA TOYA, ALBERT, KRISSY, and BARACK to become an attorney, doctor, vetrinarian, mechanic, builder, successful businessman, or president of the United States, Liberia, or another country! Our kids need encouragement and BOOKS, especially biographies and autobiographies, not criticism and punishment for minor offenses. Everyone read BAD BOY! This book is a good read for teens. It flows well. It examines all of the insecurities that young people experience while learning to think for themselves. The story,which covers Myer's early life, shows how a young man can make the most of his strengths, in spite of setbacks. I would receommend this book for teens who are seeking answers to the challenges in their lives.

I got this book the day I found out I was pregnant. I *thought* it was THE book an expectant mother to buy. It really is a good resource for questions regarding basic biological changes during pregnancy. However, it made me feel like every breath I took I was one moment closer to a miscarriage.For example, soda pop. This book will tell you that soda has no place in your pregnancy - because it either has too much sugar, is diet (and *we all know* how *bad* diet drinks are, right?), or contains caffiene. The only thing I could drink while going through the roughest Morning Sickness was Dr. Pepper - everything else I threw-up. This book made me feel like I was going to kill my baby!Another example would be coffee - should I drink it? Yet again, it uses the scare tactic: "Well, you can drink some coffee, but the more you drink the more likely you are to miscarry."So, if you can read between the lines in the book - you will do just fine!

Be careful when ordering that you get the right edition. The first time I ordered, they sent the UK edition. It isn’t labeled at all, you just start reading and notice that they talk about different healthcare issues and use a lot of different British slang. Reordered and got the correct edition. Frustrating though. See picture for different versions. UK is on the left.

I purchased this book because it’s well-known. Admittedly, I felt like it was one of those books every expecting mother should read and I didn’t investigate the type of content that would be covered. I found very little useful information in the book and certainly nothing was covered that wasn’t discussed in every app out there. I also found it annoying that there were sections on HIV, diabetes (gestational and non), etc—these topics do not pertain to the general population and those that do need information about these topics need an entire book and close monitoring by a professional to be at all prepared for pregnancy with those conditions. It felt like fluff to bulk up the book as nearly no reader could benefit from the included information, even if they had the conditions. Furthermore, the writing style is a little too cliche, filled with puns and childish humor. Just because you’re an expecting mother doesn’t mean you now talk and think like a child. The target audience feels like expecting teenagers, not expecting adults. Finally, there are a few areas of misinformation and, when I read them, it discredited the whole book. For example, page 155 under the Manicure and pedicure section it discusses cutting calluses and notes, “...(never mind the fact that the more you cut calluses, the more they grow back).” This is completely untrue and is written in as FACT! I won’t get into detail about how calluses form, but they don’t form because they’re cut away. They form as a result of friction or overloading caused by a biomechanical or musculoskeletal factor. I almost quit reading after that point and once I got to the end, I wished I would have.

I bought this book when I found out I was pregnant based off of my doctors recommendations. It definitely has a lot of useful information, however, the website is very similar. If you sign up for their emails, or I'm sure just browse the site, the info is exactly what you're reading in the book. If you wanted to not spend the money on the book, I would just just check out the website or sign up for the emails if you want the info on a weekly basis. If you want the info right at your fingertips in book form, then this is for you.

I wish I have had this book when I had my first child (18 years ago!). Lots and lots of very useful information, specially for those mommies (like me) that are a bit apprehensive or anxious and get easily concerned. The information is presented very thoroughly, yet in a way that is very warm and sympathetic. The app is a very nice complement for the book, as you can get videos, picture, forums, etc. that add to the reading.My husband really LOVES this book, and he says it has been very helpful for understanding all the changes (and challenges) that I'm going through. He also loves to to learn week by week how our baby is growing and what to expect for that week. Absolutely recommended for all the moms and dads to be!!!

This is my first pregnancy and I was looking for a useful resource to educate myself on what I was going on with my body and what I needed to be prepared for. I really tried to read this book, but every time I picked it up it made my morning sickness worse. The writing used made me feel more like a child (which made me feel more out of control and panicked) when I wanted to feel like an educated adult. I ended up throwing the book away. My husband asked me why and I told him I didn't think it would be helpful to any other woman I know and I wouldn't want to give someone something I didn't personally like nor recommend.I bought the Mayo Clinic book and find it well organized and informative, and I feel more at ease about pregnancy in general when reading the book. I truly am enjoying that book and would definitely recommend it. In particular, they discuss what you need to think about when traveling which I found helpful when my husband and I were planning our "babymoon". I'm not sure if What to Expect did this also, I didn't get far enough, so I can't compare regarding this section.

Bought this for my son and his girlfriend to read together as they take the journey into parenthood together. I read an earlier version 23 years ago, and this version is proving to be as helpful and interesting to expecting parents as the older one was to me. As I watch them reading together, I am struck by how this book helps to foster an immediate connection for both of them to their developing baby. Very cool when a book can provide important information and evoke an emotional response.

Jec explains what the exercise is going to accomplish for both horse and rider (and there ARE exercises just for the rider!). Clear explanations, good diagrams. I only wish all of the exercises were grouped by level - beginner section, intermediate section, advanced, or an index that has the exercised grouped by level of rider.

I am training a young mule and myself in Western Dressage. A friend and person who rode classical dressage recommended this book, 101 Western Dressage. It has been invaluable for my work. The format of the book is a spiral so it is easy to turn to an exercise while in the arena, review it and then proceed to work. The explanations and diagrams are excellent. You Cannot miss on this book if you and your equine want to learn dressage in a progression that builds upon itself.

Excellent content, easy to use and inspiring ! A must have for riders who understand the importance of suppleness and flexibility first.

A fun read and new ideas to entertain yourself and your horse.

I have only just started using the book but I love how it is set out and look forward to trying more of the exercises. There are no specific Western Dressage trainers where we live so it will be invaluable.
