I enjoyed reading this and getting prepared for the first year of t-ball. I feel my son's coach could have benefited from reading it as well. I know we are trying to keep many 5 year olds entertained but our practices are not the most organized.Each section of the book is laid out very well and it was a very easy read. I have referred back to the content on more than one occasion.

I am a first timer T-Ball coach. I volunteered to be the assistant coach and they were short on individuals so I had to step up and be full blown coach. I knew nothing. This book has helped out tremendously with everything from drills to running a game. I would definitely recommend this book to anybody. Of course, there are some things you're going to have to learn on your own and some things that you will be able to explain better to children (for instance, on how to hold the ball they explain it by keeping the thumb and pinky low and the other three fingers on top holding the ball on the pads of the fingers. Instead of telling 4, 5, and 6 year olds this it's easier to tell them to make a "tiger claw" and that's how they hold the ball) but overall this book will get you to where you need to be!

Great book for those parents looking to get out on the field to coach for the first time. Great drills and skills to get practice moving while keeping the young one's attention.

My favorite part of this book was the Introduction: So You Said You'd Be the Coach, Huh? Because that is EXACTLY what happened to my husband and I.And we were most definitely "Baffled Parents". Especially me. I love baseball but this was a whole new ballpark to me. These kids were young and I had no idea where to start. I downloaded this book about a week before our first practice and by Practice Day, I was definitely tons more confident.Awesome! We completely recommend this book to anyone who finds themselves as coaches.

I am giving this book five stars because the information goes right with the title. I signed up to be an assistant coach this season. I was asked to step up and be a head coach instead. I was excited, but this would be my first season. This book gives so much insight a first time coach. The drills to run during practice make sense and the author explains why they work. There is also a ton of information about things you wouldn't think about, such as how to work with parents. If you are coaching or assistant coaching, this is the book for you!

This book gave me a lot of great ideas for my second year of coaching t-ball. It is a great reference and also gave me backing for why I was allowing the kids to play different positions, etc. The only issue you can run into is that the rules or how to play in the book are likely different than your league so you need to be very aware of how your league differs. Some of the drills are much too old for the age of the kids in my t-ball league (3-6 year olds) but would be good for older kids or kids with more experience.

It helped get things together for me. I've coached older girls for several seasons, but never tee ball. This book helps with strategies to keep the little ones interested, learning, and not playing in the dirt (well they still find the dirt awefully attractive)

I wanted some background for younger children into the Han Dynasty as we were reading a Chinese folktale about the little Empress who took the secret of the silkworm with her to a new marriage, thereby revealing the centuries old secret. While the book is easily understood it was not intriguing enough to hold their interest. Not being familiar with the Silk Route myself, I found it quite interesting. But I have to give it 4 stars instead of 5 because it is supposed to be for children.I teamed the folk story and the story of the silk trade and ancient road with gifts of Chinese Barbie dolls for the granddaughters. And we discussed also the influence on fashion in the West after the International exhibition of 1862 during the Victorian years, in home decorations, gardens, porcelain china, dresses, and even the Enlish Royals household dogs (Japanese Spaniels, now the Japanese Chin...which originated in China.

This book was built on a sound concept, but the finished result does not quite deliver. The text is not very engaging, rather it is impersonal and borders on dry. The "caravan" is nameless and faceless as well as the "merchants" along the way. The progression through the Silk Route and the accompanying artwork is very well done. The factual background is great. The book could have been great...but will have to settle for good...and very useful due to lack of abundant children's resources on the subject.

Love the books. Glad to see them still in print. Wonderful gifts for children. Well written, beautifully illustrated.

this book is very beautifull illustrated, but the text is much richer than antecipatedbecause it makes bold statements and correlations with facts not well known.it presents very sophisticated ideas with kindness and precision.

The rich illustrations are very memorable. Our children (3-12) soaked up the information and referred back to it from other resources. I would love more history/geography resources like this one!

This is a very simple book for young reader who can be entertained with pictures and a brief story. It wets the appetite for looking deeper into a fascinating piece of history and a cultures that are still just being discovered.

For those of you who have been getting this calendar for years, you will find some changes in the color and format. The photos are still back to back but they seem to be so vivid in color. My favorite photos were winter and fall but overall, I did not think the photos were as spectacular as years past. The date and photo pages are now cream colored instead of whitish. The days of the week are black but the day numbers are darker beige so they are not as quickly visible. That is a feature I do not like. Three full months are in a column instead of two like 2013. That may be why the spacing to write in each day is smaller. The font for the month at the top of the page is different and in a beige color. It is a pleasing font to me but again harder to read. The quotes from Paramahansa Yogananda are still inspiring. Hope this helps because I do look to the reviews to help me when purchasing items.

I started getting the Inner Reflections Engagement Calendar in 2008 and have purchased one every year since. I don't even look at other engagement calendars, because this is the one for me. I love the great photography, the thought-provoking quotes from Paramahansa Yogananda, having holidays listed on the weekly pages, and having pages that cover a week, pages that cover a whole month, and pages with yearly calendars. Like many other reviewers, I noticed immediately that the calendar had changed this year, the difference being that, while I loved the old format, I like the new one even better! I love the new colors of paper, the new colors of type, the more saturated photos. While some of the points made by reviewers who gave the calendar a poor review are true, I think the calendar is even more beautiful, and I will have no problem in making small - if any - adjustments to the new format in terms of how I actually use the engagement calendar. Life is change, and every new year brings some change into life. This year's calendar is only reflecting that.

I agree with the critical comments concerning poor formatting and over saturation of photos. I was also surprised to see the new formatting of photos which no longer has a framed appearance. Vertical photos go to the top of the page and landscape ones go from one side of the page to the other with many of the photos continuing through the spiraled binding. All of these factors contribute to taking away from the simple harmony of these previously balanced calendars.Yoganandaji's quotes are, of course, as inspiring as ever and the heart and soul of these calendars.

I have been a dedicated purchaser of this engagement calendar for over a dozen years. This years however, was a big let down. Two things, first the paper quality was immediately apparent as the book arrived wavey and the edges were roughly cut. Secondly the printing is clearly a cheap one as the colors are Gaulish and rather awful as compared to what I am used to enjoying from this company. The care of image choice and words fall flat in the absence of excellence in print and paper quality. This will be the last year I will purchase this particular calendar.

Several years ago a client gave me this calendar for Christmas. i was so impressed with the stunning photography and the wise messages that i have been using it every year for appointments and for a mini-diary. The sharp, glossy photos alone are cause for contemplation and they harmonize wonderfully with the message below. It has a good, solid feel when handling it, but it's too big and heavy to carry in a purse. that's why one has an i-pod. I will continue to use this calendar as long as they make it.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it." I have been buying Inner Reflections calendars every year since 2000 and I am extremely disappointed in the 2014 edition. There's lots of empty, wasted space at the top of the page which means the amount of room available to make daily notations has decreased. And if this wasn't bad enough, they placed three monthly insets between the spine and days area which even further dramatically reduced the space to make daily notes. With all the empty space at the top, they could have put the insets up there. I will think twice before I buy their 2015 calendar. I gave it 2 stars because the pictures are beautiful as always.

I have also loved this calendar for many years now, and thought buying a new one was a no-brainer... until the back page of 2014 would no longer remain attached to the book. Did anyone else have this problem? I also noted the change in photograph color and the layout changes, but I was ready to accept them... until it seemed as if my appointment book was less expertly bound as well! I don't know why all the changes were made to an already best-selling product, but I'm sad to say I'm truly reticent to buy the 2015 edition. I've been searching for a new planner as nice as this one *used* to be, for weeks.

I, my family and friends have used this calendar for years. The combination of non-religious, non-denominational, spiritual sayings and beautiful nature photos brings expansion and inspiration with each turn of the page. I recommend it for those who revel in seeing God's handiwork everywhere in the natural world.

In "Lies My Doctor Told me," Dr. Ken Berry takes an honest, evidence based approach to debunking many commonly held beliefs about health, wellness, and modern medicine. Unlike many medical professionals, Dr. Berry does not believe that the first line of defense against medical problems should be a pill. Instead, he focuses on how lifestyle choices, particularly diet, should be the first thing addressed in order to achieve optimal health. He is not against pharmacology when appropriate, but feels that many drugs are over-prescribed by doctors. He feels these doctors would be doing their patients a better service by being up to date on the current research and advising their patients to look at a variety of diet and lifestyle choices before resorting to medication. Dr. Berry is very honest in this book about how he used to be 'that doctor' who gave out the standard advice and protocols learned by all doctors in medical school, even when in the back of his mind he knew that there had to be a better way. He also acknowledges that he used to be the out of shape, fat doctor giving health advice to patients, and how he finally realized that to lead by example and become healthier, he needed to arm himself with the truth based on current research and actual science.Each topic discussed is delivered in an informative, entertaining, and witty way. The chapters are complete yet succinct, and resources for further reading on each subject are always provided. This is the perfect book to read for yourself and then pass on to others. Be prepared to let go of some of your long held beliefs and replace them with new ones that will make your life and health better in every way.

Be prepared to not put this book down once you start reading it!! I was delighted to see that Dr. Berry and I have something in common. We were both inspired by Mark Sisson's book, The Primal Blueprint. This book led me down a much better path than the one I was going down before. Albeit not a bad one, but one that needed more fine tuning and direction.I learned about Dr. Berry on the The Primal Blueprint Podcast. I really connected to what Dr. Berry had to say. When I learned of his book, the title really piqued my interest, so I immediately ordered it. This is one of those books that for most of your friends and family, they will shake their heads at you and tell you that you are crazy. Like most people, they trust their current doctor and the care they give them, which if you're lucky is about a 6-7 visit where 9 times out of 10 it ends with the doctor giving you a prescription. We have been trained by the system to feel good about getting a prescription, because it is the "only" way to better health.Dr. Berry recommends to read a lot, which is something I do regularly. I was happy to see that I have read some of the books he recommends at the end of each chapter. I very much look forward to reading some of the newer titles I have not yet heard of. I really like how he wrote the book. Each chapter starts off with the lie, why you should care, support for the lie, the research and then what you might do. He always points you in a direction to go learn more for yourself. Don't just take his word as the gospel.I highly recommend reading this book no matter where you are in your life currently. I guarantee you will learn something new that will have a positive change on your diet and/or lifestyle.

The book was a bit of a surprise. Dr Berry is critical of his profession, and rightly so. My family doctor passed away a few years ago. He died in a plane crash. When I was assigned a new doctor I was expecting my first visit to be a meet and greet. Sort of get to know one another type of thing. Nope, got strait to a physical with the typical clinical questions. After my second physical I stopped going. I recently went to see an eye specialist for an exam. I told him that I had Googled my symptoms and that was what prompted me to make the appointment. Fortunately there is noting wrong. When I mentioned I had used Google to get more information he got sarcastic. To paraphrase him "Oh yes, good old Dr Google." I got the impression my visit was wasting his time. Even though I was paying for the visit.I suspect healthcare will only get worse with government managing our healthcare. The incentive to help clients is overwritten by micromanaging doctors time and a complex billing system. Perhaps a copy of this book should be required reading. And we as clients should demand more.On a positive note, I like the growing trend of Doctors opting out of insurance and using the direct primary care model. I wish there were more doctors in my area adopting it.

this book is the perfect place for readers who want to start taking charge of your medical care. Dr. Berry's writing style is easy to read and makes it easy for the reader to grasp the subject matter. Great starting point for every reader.

In simple language, Dr. Ken fills us in on how the medical system has gotten to the point that it is in today, where doctors are taught mostly to treat disease and illness, but are not taught how to help their patients stay healthy. He tells us of many of the lies we are told that many doctors don't even know are lies! He goes on to tell us how we can do a better job of of taking care of ourselves, and prevent disease, but not necessarily by following the same rules that doctors would tell us to follow. Very non-technical, but he encourages us to research for ourselves how to stay healthy and provides us with resources that we can read or study. There are a few typos, but not enough to detract from the important information that he is presenting. All in all, a very good read!

I enjoyed this version. Although the story was abridged it was still fun.

Knocked out another audible book while walking to work and enjoyed it thoroughly. I document the book here to keep track of my yearly literature consumption. At any rate the reader of the audible version I listened to was excellent. His voice was dramatic, captured the characters and was very engaging. It presents an American classic boyhood with fond memories of what it was like for a rambunctious, curious, inquisitive boy growing up in the 1840s in Missouri. Probably couldn’t be told today, any boy as rambunctious as Tom would be fed Ritalin on an IV drip until he was enough of a zombie to sit in class, renounce his white privilege, recognize that gender is just a construct, apologize for his toxic masculinity and recite the mantra that the future is female. Plus his interactions with Becky Thatcher may have brought him up on Title 9 charges where a kangaroo court could deny him any due process, ruin his life and dox him on Twitter.
